Ireland has become a very popular destination for kitesurfing. I recently decided to take a break from my claddagh ring workshop to try out this sport and see why it has become so popular in Ireland and to see why Ireland has become known as a top kite surfing destination.
I took my first lesson kitesurfing on Dollymount beach in Dublin. This seems to be Dublin most popular kite surfing beach. When the wind conditions are suitable you will see dozens of kites on Dollymount.
Dollymount has excellent conditions for kitesurfing it is a flat sandy beach, about 3km long with shallow flat water.
Dollymount is close to Dublin city and well worth a visit if you are interested in Kitesurfing.
Battle for the Bay, an international kitesurfing and stand-up paddleboarding event takes place on Dollymount.
